A Hidden Gem for Sashimi Lovers; Wasabi Tei

If you are looking for quality sushi and sashimi around town, why not head over to Far East Plaza's Wasabi Tei to settle your meal?
Wasabi Tei is located at the fifth level and it is easily accessible if you take a lift from the 'Saveur' side.
Spot for the one with the blue fortune Cat curtain instead of the one below.
Well, I have no idea why but a friend of ours highly recommended us to head for this instead of the other one.
Anyone knows why?
Share with me!
Seats can be quite limited so be prepared to queue if you are coming in big groups.
It can be quite a chore to find a seat if you come with bulky items as well!
There weren't much space for maneuvering around.
Pray that you can take the seats nearer to the entrance!
And yes, $2 will be charged for every seat taken, although no GST and service charge are charged.
Let me guess, this info has been here for 7 years?
Menu!
The side where I think is much more affordable and worth for money.
You can opt for ala-carte too!
The two appetizers in which I couldn't quite figure out what they were.
I personally thought one of them tasted similar to crab/octopus salad.
It was refreshing and chewy, while the black one in the background left me speechless.
I've researched on various reviews and people claimed it to be Hijiki seaweed.
Hmmm, to me, it tasted nothing like that.
Chawan Mushi ($5).
The steamed egg was really shiok although I think it's a little overpriced.
Sorry guys, I have forgotten what is this and how much it cost.
My bad!
But check out those juicy freshness!
Salmon Belly ($15) and that means every fat slice costs around $2+.
Ohmyyyy, even though I have to admit I am willing to pay for such good quality sashimi.
California Maki ($8).
These little darling roe can never go wrong when they are wrapped around your sushi rolls.
Salmon Teriyaki Set ($15) which include a Teriyaki Salmon steak, a bowl of rice and a miso soup.
The salmon was really good though.
Udon, decent hearty bowl of noodles and soup to fill your tummy real fast.

And this could just be the highlight of the entire meal.
Chirashi Don Set ($28).
Where everything nice was being chosen to perfect this little box of luxury.
This includes the thickest slices of salmon I have ever seen, the yummiest scallop (hotate) ever tasted, eggy tamago, big fat tuna, chunky swordfish, popalicious fish roe and shrimps!
Look at that chunky thick piece of salmon!
In my own humble opinion, I think that the Bara Chirashi version I had previously at Teppei Japanese Restaurant was comparable to the one I had here.
Oh my my my, I am drooling on my keyboard now while typing this.
HA!
And what's for desserts???
ICE CREAM!
Yuzu vs Sesame vs Matcha & Azuki Beans!!!
The Yuzu was quite addictive with the little yuzu bits as well as the Matcha too (because of the red beans ^^)!
We loved the food overall and left the place with tummies filled with satisfaction.
We will definitely be back for more!

Standing Sushi Bar Review

Am always hearing about the highly-raved pocket saving goodness of Salmon Sashimi they serve here.
So I decided to drag Mister to try it cause' we are huge Salmon lovers!
As we can see, the restaurant was really packed on a Monday night.
Why???
BECAUSE....
OF THIS!
Insanely crazy good deal eh?
There are many more promotions happening throughout the week.
You can check it over here :- http://standingsushibar.com/promotions/
I guess Salmon Madness chases the Monday blues away which is why it is sooooo popular!
You can try special sushi rolls as well!
Salmon Sashimi (5 slices for $3).
The salmon were really goooodd, the freshness and thickness were not a disappointment.
We ordered a total of 20 slices which makes it $12 for just the two of us.
This is really worth the bucks when each of us could just spend that $6 elsewhere and will only be enough to get us three slices.
Couldn't get enough of Salmon.
All Salmon, All The Time ($16)
If you like seared salmon, this is a definite must-try!
Buta Kakuni ($9.90).
Mister ordered this because he is a huge fan of Pork Belly.
Those three slices of fat and juicy pork belly are sure to make you feel sinful after stomaching them.
Well....I've sinned.
Tori Karaage ($10)
So so so so soooooo super crispy!
Look at the long queue even after we finished our meal.
So do make a reservation (ideal for big groups) if you are ready for some salmon and sushi action.

Lunch at Teppei Japanese Restaurant Review

Met up with my foodie partner for some Japanese cuisine he introduced me.
We decided on lunch because apparently Teppei Japanese Restaurant have been fully booked for dinner for 4-6 months in advance!
I was shocked when my friend told me about this.
What is the fuss about?
Teppei serve cheap and good omakase as compared to the other Japanese restaurants.
They are also known to serve authentic rice dons.
And by 'Omakase', it means to leave it to you. In which this case, to leave the menu to the chef who decides what to cook for you.
And I guess one of the reasons for being booked full-house might be due to the seating capacity as well.
The size of the restaurant is relatively small, around 20 pax?
I noticed the staff having difficulty walking around to serve the customers.
I met up with my friend at around 1+ in the afternoon and there was already a short queue.
But I guess we were lucky. We waited for around 20 minutes before finally getting our seats.
And the special menu item was Yellowtail Carpaccio (Sashimi)!
I can't quite remember the price though.
Guess it's around $18+/-?
It was a little pricey but I guess paying for the quantity and quality, it was worth the money.
I simply love how the sashimi blend well with the sauce given, it's just so fresh and tasty all at once!
Nomnom.
Next, how can we not order this famous don???
Bara Chirashi ; which consist of a mixture of salmon, tuna and roe on top of the rice.
The salmon and tuna are really fat, fresh and juicyyyyy.
Every mouthful felt like fishes swimming in my mouth.
A close-up shot.
This is really delicious. ^^
When we are finally done with our meal, it's around 2pm.
There were sill people queueing outside waiting for their turn!
