Sarnies :- an informal British slang for Sandwiches.
If you are looking for a place in CBD that serves gourmet sandwiches, salads and coffee, then this is the right place to go!
Love the wall decor that first caught my eye when I stepped in.
There aren't many seats in the cafe itself but there is an al-fresco area if you don't mind the humid weather.
It was a Friday afternoon when we visited the cafe and it was almost full house.
My foodie partner and I were lucky enough to find us a seat within minutes.
Menu can be seen on the chalkboard and ordering are to be taken at the counter beside.
We made swift decisions on our food items as we were really hungry by then.
A poker card was given to us as a waiting number.
I thought the idea was rather cool.
Upon waiting, I noticed regulars coming in and order take-aways (they seem to know what to order).
And you will be surprised at the flow of people that entered, 7 out of 10 are caucasians!
...
Oh right, back to our food!
Iced Mocha ($7) , pretty good I must say.
Flat White ($5)
Le fellow foodie partner chose Roast Chicken ($15).
It practically looks like a jungle mess in there.
Sorry if it doesn't look as appetizing, but you can count on my word that this is really awesome!
In addition to the roast chicken, there are also house cured bacon, guacamole (avocado-based dip), vine tomatoes and mixed lettuce (which explains the jungle part).
It's a really generous portion served for the price paid I must say.
And so was my Smoked Salmon ($15).
We both wanted to choose wrap thinking it was easier for consumption, but too bad they ran out of that, which was why we chose the ciabatta bread.
My sandwich includes creamy dill sauce, red onions, capers (my favourite!) & mixed lettuce.
It was one of the nicer sandwiches I've ever tasted.
Thumbs up!
Hee, with my foodie partner for the day!
Overall, I would think Sarnies provided a rather pleasant experience and food served were also above average.
If I were to be working around that area, I would definitely pay a visit for some decent cuppa or a salad / sandwich to-go!
