Ain't Your Typical Foodfare : The Provision Shop

Hola! I am back at Everton Park again!
Le foodie partner decided on 'The Provision Shop' which is situated at Blk 3 of the estates (literally at the very far end of the shophouses).
I've always find cafes like that interesting.
Why?
I feel that the interior design, as well as the furniture pieces and decors are important elements to a cafe. (apart from the food items).
All these comes from the shopowner who sets the ambience that customers soak in when they patronise the cafe.
And I must say, I like the layout of this one here.
Vintage tables and wooden stools, rustic letterbox and hanging pendant lamps are presented which surprisingly matches well with the concept it is trying to set.
Little creative bits like this are also what draw my attention when I am visiting a place.
Can play musical chairs here perhaps?
That weighing scale though.
And of course more rustic signboards.
I simply love the long low counter top that is lined up with rows of rustic wood panels.
And more rustic lightings can be found within the cafe itself.
Cute sugar cubes which you just feel like popping into your cuppa even if it's sweet enough.
(Take it easy. Do take note of how many you pop in yo.)
And the very simple yet detailed menu they provided.
For lunch, salads, sandwiches, pastas and eggs ben are available.
When we reached, there were plenty of seats to choose from.
Ahh~ That's the ideal time of the cafe where you can really laze around with a friend or two and chill out.
Shortly after our orders are placed, our food came arriving!
Belinda's Perogis ($6), a traditional hot Polish dumplings filled with mashed potatoes & ricotta cheese, topped with bacon, onions & sour cream.
I have read mixed reviews about this and being the adventurous type, I decided to try it.
To be honest, after the first bite, my foodie partner and I looked at one another with a lost expression. I would say it is really something not typically seen here in Singapore and it tasted relatively nice after a few bites.
Traditional Carbonara ($14), which includes bacon, barn-raised egg yolks (in which the waitress actually told us beforehand), & parmigiano reggiano (locally known as parmesan cheese).
This version tasted uniquely different from the ones I had before.
Although I must say the texture of the pasta tasted seemingly very much like kway teow (Chinese flat rice noodle strips), only thicker and harder.
It can be quite addictive if you really love the sauce, or else, it can turn out to be too overwhelming for your tastebuds and you may get sick of it.
I ordered a Nuts About Smoked Salmon ($14) salad which includes smoked salmon (Of course!), cucumber, apple, walnut, asparagus, salmon roe & fresh mint with walnut aioli.
Undoubtedly, the smoked salmon was the main highlight, together along with the fresh cucumbers and crunchy asparagus.
It was a rather refreshing dish with the fragrant minty twist to it.

Overall, the whole dining experience was pleasant and the food faired well.
One more thing is that no GST or service charge is charged (you can still tip if you want)!
Alright!
Stay foodie, folks!
